A very important element in a wedding is the capture of that special day as it will be the images that will remain over the years.
We will give you some tips from Eva Sica, a professional destination wedding photographer and shared with us on an Instagram Live.
STYLE
If you already have some options of photographers you like, you must study their portfolios very well, take a look of several weddings from start to finish, since each one has its own style and it must connect with yours and with the vision that you have in mind.
Do you want a Pinterest or an Instagram style wedding? Or maybe highly edited photos with filters? or natural and casual photos?
INTERVIEW
A face-to-face or zoom interview is essential so that you can get to know the photographers you like.
Make a list of questions of all your doubts, ask what is included on their packages, conditions, policies, and all what you need to know before booking their services.
CHEMISTRY AND
PERSONALITY
Once you’ve studied the photographers’ material and interviewed them, the connection you feel with each of them will be critical.
The photographer will be the person closest to you on your wedding day.
There has to be a chemistry between you and the photographer so that she or he can capture all the moments that are super important to you and that will tell your story.
If it’s someone you’re uncomfortable or don’t like the relationship it won’t work and that will be reflected in your pictures.
EXPERIENCE
Sometimes weddings don’t happen under the perfect circumstances.
For example, a sudden storm, or a day when both the main camera and the backup camera don’t want to work for some reason, or when the bride’s mom feels bad or when a terrible wave takes the whole setup of the ceremony.
Many photographers perform their excellent work only when there are no unforeseen situations or when weddings are visually spectacular.
But are they all able to deliver beautiful images even though the day is cloudy or the wedding design is simple?
WEDDING DAY TIMELINE
Is very important to have a wedding day timeline to capture all the moments of your big day.
Your Wedding Planner will be the key piece to help you on this and monitor the times are fulfilled as planned.
Following your Wedding Planner recommendations will be essential to make the memories of that great day a success.
For example if your wedding is on the beach they will recommend you the best itinerary considering the time of the sunset!
SECOND CAMERA
Depends on the number of guests you will have to consider if a second camera is needed.
We suggest that for weddings with more than 100 guests you do hire a second photographer, that way the main photographer will be close to the couple most of the time and the second one will take care of all other details of your wedding.
COMMUNICATION
Communication between you and the photographer is very important, you need to tell him ( her) all what you expect regarding your pictures.
Write a photo list and share it with your Wedding Planner and your photographer.
Give your wedding party the wedding day itinerary, as a result, they will know when and where they need to be for pictures.
“For me the most important thing is to understand the essence of the day and the couple.
I try to make sure that all day is covered the best way as possible. Do i have a beautiful portrait of the bride?
If not, i will find a moment to shoot it. Basically I have a list in my mind of what I should capture and I keep track of which ones I’ve already achieved and which ones I still have to work on ” Eva Sica
